The Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Blay Nyameke Armah is threatening a number of legal actions against some persons within his constituency and the political class in the Western Region, for libel, insults and other derogatory remarks made against him.

The legislator is keen about promoting a healthy political environment in his constituency, by making an example of persons who he would soon sue.

Speaking exclusively to ‘Orokodo Kasaebo’, Connect FM’s prime midday news in Takoradi, Blay Nyameke indicated that he would not compromise on his integrity by allowing people to spew untruth and insults at him.

He feared that until an example is made of such persons, those willing to serve in politics would always suffer reputational damages and victimization.

Blay Nyameke hinted in each case, a defendant may end up with not less than a GH10 million defamation suit. This, he reiterated will be a lesson to sanitize the political space in Sekondi.

“My hope is that, by 2028 that sort of politics wouldn’t happen in Sekondi. And I will set that example. I have said it; I will sue those people. I will sue by 2027/28, so that you will know that if you come out with something that is not true about me, you will end up in court and pay GH10 million.”

The Sekondi lawmaker recounted that prior to the 2024 elections, a number of derogatory commentary and allegations were leveled against him, some he said, nearly cost him his marriage.

“From 2024, I had people calling me names; fake lawyer, criminal; and to some extent alleging that I have impregnated and married about five women in Sekondi. This is not right. We cannot allow that in a society that we are trying to develop. We need to be respected.

“My wife who is resident in the UK, saw these allegations about me impregnating five women and called me. Every good wife will be worried about this,” he narrated.

Blay Nyameke Armah already has filed a defamation lawsuit at the High Court of Justice in Accra against three defendants: Lawuratu Musah-Saaka, the Jospong Group of Companies, and Ignite Media Group, owners of Metro TV. He is demanding, among other things, general, aggravated, punitive, and compensatory damages totaling GH₵10,000,000.00, legal costs, and any other relief the court deems appropriate.

This comes after he was allegedly implicated in a US$350 million cocaine bust.
