A Meteorologist with the Ghana Meteorology Agency, Joshua Asamoah, says current weather patterns do not indicate any severe weather conditions for the capital.
In an interview with Helen Appiah-Ampofo on 3FM Sunrise show on May 19, he confirmed that no intense rainfall is anticipated in the next 24 hours.
“Residents in Accra have nothing to worry about because we are not anticipating any intense rainfall within the next 24 hours.” Joshua Asamoah assured.
Joshua Asamoah’s comments follow an almost three-hour downpour on Sunday, May, 18th 2025 that has once again led to severe flooding across several parts of Accra, disrupting traffic and daily activities.
Meanwhile, a Roads and Building Consultant, Ing. Mahama Abdulai has called for strict enforcement of construction laws in the country.
Abdulai emphasized that while Ghana boasts of a comprehensive legal framework for the construction industry, these “beautiful laws” are often disregarded.
“One thing I have realized about this country (Ghana) is we only have beautiful laws that are not respected.”
He therefore urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to ensure that persons who jeopardize public safety and hinder national development are severely punished.
“It’s about time our Assemblies enforce the laid-down regulations on building along waterways,” he pointed out.
