The rainstorm that swept across the Talensi District on Tuesday evening, May 20, 2025, has rendered many homeless and has affected other government institutions in the District.
Sawaliga primary and Junior High School is the worst hit among many schools affected with roofs ripped off and classroom flooded.
Teaching and learning at these schools has temporarily been on hold due to the situation while efforts are underway to reconstruct the roofing and other damaged areas.
The rainstorm has also disrupted with the distribution of electricity in the District and many municipal and district offices in the Upper East Region with many electricity poles and installations fallen and damaged respectively.
Residents and the Ghana Education service are appealing for an emergency support to the affected areas and schools.
