Three persons who were involved in various robbery cases in the Upper West Region have been jailed for a total of 64 years by the Wa Circuit Court.
Adinan Mahmoud alias Okra, a 25-year-old notorious armed robber, was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in hard labor. Okra, who was arraigned before the Wa Circuit Court on Jun 2, 2025, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit robbery, and robbery.

He was apprehended at his hideout in Sandemuni, a suburb of Wa, Upper West Region following intensive intelligence-led operations carried out by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate on May 31, 2025. Okra is reported to have been on the Police Wanted List for a series of robberies in the Region.
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, one of his two accomplices Abdulai Ibrahim alias Baba, was convicted to 13 years’ imprisonment.

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, he (Abdulai Ibrahim alias Baba) was given another fresh 15 years in addition, making a total of 28 years’ imprisonment while the second accomplice, Abdulai Kipo, was slapped with 18 years.
The three accused persons were held on charges of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit robbery, and robbery.
The two accomplices pleaded not guilty to the charges, but the court presided over by His Honor Jonathan Avoogo found them guilty at the end of the trial.
The Upper West Regional Police Command remains resolute in its efforts to track down and bring to justice all individuals who pose a threat to peace and security in the Region.
