A building situated at London Bridge a community in the heart of Cape Coast, has collapsed after hours of heavy downpour.
An old lady who was in the building at the time of the incident, is reported to have died.
The incident, which happened in the early hours of June 21, has sparked fear in the Central Region’s capital as rescue team from the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service, National Disaster Management Organization, and Police continue to manage the situation.
The search party was able to rescue some people who were trapped in the building and retrieved the dead body of an old lady.
A team led by the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, was also at the scene of the incident to ensure personnel from the emergency services work effectively to get all trapped persons out of the debris.
It is believed there were five people in the building when it collapsed but four have been retrieved.
