The Black Queens came from a goal down to beat their Malawian counterparts 3-1 in a pre-WAFCON 2024 friendly match played on Saturday.
The friendly at the Ziaida Complex was the first of three friendlies arranged for the team
Malawi drew first blood in the 15th minute through Tendai Saani.
But a penalty converted by the Hapoel Tel Aviv’s striker after Alice Kusi was brought down cancelled that goal.
The former Hasaacas Ladies striker went on to score two more goals – one in the 31st minute and the other seven minutes from time – to give the Queens a 3-1 win.
It’s the second win for Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren since replacing Nora Häuptle, who will lead Zambia in the Morocco tournament.
The Black Queens will next play Benin on Wednesday before taking on Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Sunday in the final preparatory game.
