The Black Queens avoided a scare as they came from 2-1 down at half-time to beat their Beninois counterparts 4-2 in a friendly match ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The match, played at the Complexe Sportif Zaiada in Benslimane on Wednesday, was the second test game for the Queens ahead of the tournament.
They beat Malawi 3-1 in the first game last Saturday.
Defender Nina Norshie opened the scoring for the Queens after just four minutes of play as her back flick beat the Benin goalkeeper.
However, the West African neighbours restored parity in the 11th minute and, further, took the lead from the spot kick to go into the break, leading 2-1.
After 10 minutes of play in the second half, Alice Kusi cancelled Benin’s lead.
Fifteen minutes later, Susan Ama Duah made it 3-2 for the Queens before Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah scored a debut goal to put the score at 4-2.
That was how the game ended.
Ghana’s next and final test will be against Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Sunday, June 29.
The team will, then, travel to Berkane for the opening game at the WAFCON against defending champions South Africa.
