The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, is calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director General of the CID to expedite action on his complaint about the attack on him in Ayawaso West Wuogon.
The MP was assaulted by some security personnel believed to be members of the SWAT team of the Ghana Police Service during the 2019 by-election.
A video captured Mr. George shouting at the security personnel in a parked vehicle, claiming they wanted to kill a man in his house.
During the exchange, one of the security men stepped out of the parked pick-up truck and slapped him.
He was then punched by another person in uniform suspected to be part of the security team. The video, which went viral on social media, indicates that the attack on the MP resulted in fisticuffs between the police and NDC supporters.
“This is so wrong, this is so wrong, but no matter how long, you kill a man in his own house ?” The legislator was seen exclaiming.
Reports indicate that the assault on Sam George was connected to an incident that occurred at the La Bawaleshie polling station, where some groups of persons were shot by unknown gunmen, disrupting the voting process.
The MP filed an official complaint with the police, which he claims has still not received the needed attention.
In a social media post on Friday, July 11, 2025, Mr. George, following pockets of violence in an ongoing election rerun in Ablekuma North, reminded the security agencies that his complaint about the assault has still not been attended to.
“Dear IGP and DG of the CID, I am still waiting for the Police to act on my complaint from Ayawaso West Wuogon. It must be treated as a first come, first served basis. I have patiently waited since 2019 for justice to be served,” the MP wrote.
He cautioned against persons who are condemning the attacks on today’s exercise but failed to comment when they faced similar situations, referencing his own experience in 2019.
“Let no one who justified the 2019 incident dare try to speak today. You sowed the wind and you have reaped the whirlwind. What was sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander,” he stated.
