Former Asante Kotoko captain Justice Blay has rendered an unqualified apology to management, technical team, players, supporters and stakeholders of the club over his interview on Pure FM Friday, July 11.
In the interview, Blay held no hesitation as he pried open some classified information about the club and camping, like how he fell out with teammate Kwame Poku.
In a statement issued later, the player admitted that his responses during the interview on the Kumasi-based radio station were influenced by his deep personal emotions following his departure from the club.
“Upon reflection, I recognise that my words may have caused disappointment or offense to the club, my former teammates, the passionate supporters and specific individuals whose names were mentioned,” he stated.
“I wish to offer my sincerest and unreserved apology to Asante Kotoko SC, its management, technical team, players, supporters, and everyone who may have been affected by my comments.
“It was never my intention to bring the name of this great club into disrepute or to diminish the contributions of those I’ve had the honour of working alongside.”
He indicated that the club holds a special place in his heart aside playing an instrumental role in his growth and career as a professional footballer.
“While my emotions got the better of me in that moment, I take full responsibility for my words and understand the importance of communicating with greater professionalism and respect, regardless of circumstance.
“This experience has served as a powerful reminder of the values of emotional discipline, humility and maturity – on and off the pitch.”
He assured all and sundry that he has learnt from this and will become not only a better player but also a better person.
