Deputy Minister-designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey has disclosed that 10 electric buses are currently in Ghana out of the 100 which were ordered, with only four working at the moment.

She said the other six have developed faults with the charging system which the Minister has resolved with the company in charge.

During her vetting by the Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, 2025, she said when given the nod, she will work hand-in-hand with the Minister to ensure that the country transitions to use electric vehicles as it is the new norm.

“Mr. Chair, with the briefing I had with my Minister, I was told that ten buses (Electric) are currently in Ghana, of course 100 were ordered, ten were delivered. Four of them are working and the other six have problems with the charging system but he has resolved that and also made contacts with the company which initially started. So, they are working to make it better and changes have taken place,” she stated.

“I will work with my Minister to see how best we can do that so that we can be part of the global world because that is what everybody is transitioning into and Ghana should be part of it,” she added.
