The Chief Executive of the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey popularly called Chief Logass has revealed that his dream has always been to be a professional Disc Jockey (DJ).

The host of the 3FM Urban Blend Show, Blakk Rasta in an interview with the DVLA boss asked him whether he always wanted to work with the DVLA or such an institution; to which he answered in the negative.

“Let me be frank today. I have always wanted to be a DJ. I used to have a small spinning machine that I was operating. That is something I love to do. I love music and I don’t just like music but reggae music. I always want to listen to good music; Bob Marley is on top of the list, Culture and Lucky Dube too,” Mr. Kotey said Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

“I have always wanted to be a DJ but you know, you can say what you want to be but the wind may sometimes blow you to a better place than you had wished to be,” he reiterated.

When asked whether he tried to work with any radio station or still have interest in it; he answered in the affirmative and disclosed that he used to go to Radio Gold with his brother.

“I would follow my brother and we will go to Radio Gold and play music though we were not employed as staff. I was the guy who was playing reggae on Radio Gold just two weeks ago which got people talking about.

“Once in a while if there is an opportunity or if I want to relax I can come to the studio and play some reggae music. I have the passion and the zeal for it” Neequaye Kotey told Blakk Rasta.

Mr. Kotey was again asked how he ended up as the Chief Executive of the DVLA.

“Because I have worked there before. I had three years of working experience with the DVLA, eight years experience with SSNIT, and I am very close to some prominent people, including John Mahama himself,” he stated.

He continued that “when we lost the 2020 election, I was at Ibrahim’s place and John Mahama came there, we were going to eat and I looked at the man and started shedding tears. He came to tap me at the back and said don’t worry, we will be fine but the only issue is that you can’t be your Chief Executive anymore. You can’t be the DVLA boss anymore. So I told him, sir you too you can’t be the President anymore, and we all burst into laughter. I told him to contest again.

“He replied, Logass as you are here cooking food for all of us to enjoy you don’t like. You want me to be President again so that when you are coming to me, the security will be driving you away and you will not have access to me?

“And I said, Sir, if you are President today and I don’t have access to you, I know as you are President I will be a DVLA boss. I just said that and he later told me that whenever he hears anything DVLA, my name comes to his mind.”
