The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced that any cash payment is going to be phased out at all offices across the country. The Authority plans to introduce a digital payment system across all offices.

The move is aimed at eliminating corruption at the DVLA and promoting efficiency and accountability.

Chief Executive Officer of DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey disclosed this to journalists when he gave an account of his stewardship for the first one year in office on Friday, January 23, 2026.

This will complement efforts by the Authority to improve services and make it profitable for government.

According to the CEO, Point of Sale devices will be distributed to account officers to be used in receiving payments.

“We are moving from the cash system to the cashless system. That one we have even started the piloting already. There is IPP. If you go to ECG, they don’t deal with cash anymore, most of the institutions. So, at DVLA, we are moving to cashless so those of you who have been putting the “GORO” in your work and go and do it, I will see how you will do it.

“We have held meetings with the bans and we have told them very soon we will be moving from our premises,” he stated.

The Chief Executive Officer further disclosed that the Authority managed to increase its targeted revenue for 2025 by 39%.

“Last year, the financial growth, we made 39% revenue growth. So, in the year 2025, what was expected of us, we increased it by 39% financially and it is all because of the BP sticker which came into being and other places which we have to block the leakages at,” he said.
