The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) will effective Monday, May 4, 2026, extend its operational hours at selected offices nationwide.

The move is aimed at improving access to services and reducing congestion at its centres.

A total of 15 DVLA offices will operate until 10:00pm each day, through a structured two-shift system under the new arrangement as part of the government’s broader 24-hour Economy policy.

It is expected that the new system will provide greater flexibility for motorists and clients who are unable to access services during regular working hours.

The offices to adjust their operational hours for the two-shift system are located at Narhman (near Haatso), Weija, Tema, Bolgatanga, Wa, Tamale, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Sunyani, Ho, Techiman, Kumasi, Winneba and Tarkwa.

The Authority, in a statement issued on Thursday, April 16, 2026, explained that the decision forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery while aligning with the government’s broader 24-hour economy policy, and seeks to boost productivity and expand access to essential public services.

The Authority admonished the public to take advantage of the extended service hours to transact business directly at its offices, noting that the measure is also intended to curb the activities of middlemen and improve transparency in service delivery.

The DVLA also indicated that all payments made after 5:00 pm will be restricted to electronic channels, urging clients to prepare accordingly when accessing late-hour services.

It appealed for patience and cooperation from the public as it works towards the full implementation of a 24-hour service framework across its operational centres, adding that the reforms are part of a broader strategy to modernise its services and improve customer experience nationwide.
