The Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, is taking bold step on encroachers occupying school lands within the city.
Extremely concerned about the widespread encroachment, Mayor has ordered the immediate eviction of all squatters from school premises.
This action follows his ongoing tour of basic schools, which began on July 30, 2025, where he witnessed disturbing scenes of encroachment.
These unauthorized occupants are using school lands for various unauthorized purposes, including shelter, trading, cargo stations, drug peddling, mechanic work, sanitation, and religious activities.
This misuse not only deviates from the intended purpose of these lands but also obstructs academic activities and raises serious security, moral, and sanitation concerns. Noise pollution from these encroachers is another major worry for city authorities.
To address this issue, the KMA Boss has instructed personnel from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Physical Planning, and the Works Department to swiftly oversee the eviction of all encroachers.
During his tour, the Mayor was accompanied by key officials, including Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, Metro Coordinating Director, and Mr. David Oppong, Metro Director of Education.
Together, they visited several schools, such as the Asem Cluster of Schools, Amankwatia Cluster of Schools, and Bantama Methodist Primary School, engaging with assembly members, headteachers, and Ghana Education Service staff.
