The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on Tuesday August 19, 2025, led a high-level government delegation to visit the families of the eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash on August 6.

The visit, according to the delegation, was to ensure the families of the deceased are faring well after the burial.

The delegation included the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at the Vice President’s Office, Alex Segbefia Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, senior government officials and staffers and some executives of the National Democratic Congress including the General secretary, Fiifi Kwetey.


The team first visited the home of the first Vice of the NDC, Samuel Sarpong, then Deputy Director- General of NADMO, Samuel Aboagye, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Minuru Lumuna, Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and then Environment Minister Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

The Vice President and the team once again offered condolences and emotional support to the families.

Deputy Spokesperson for government Communications, Shamima Muslim, said the visit was upon instruction of President Mahama who is currently out of the country.

“The President was of the opinion that we should visit each and every family to find out how they are doing especially the spouses and the children.”


She said companies and individuals are already donating into the fund for the bereaved children.

“The visit was also to communicate the President’s commitment to support the families through this difficult period and to reassure them of the pledge he has made especially for the families with young children who are still in school with the announcement of the child support fund. I’m happy to announce that a lot of donations are already coming through” Shamima Muslim added.
