Officials from the German Development Cooperation paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Health to discuss potential areas of collaboration and support for the country’s health sector.

The meeting marks an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for collaboration in the health sector.

The visit underscores Germany’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s development agenda, particularly in areas such as Sustainable Economic Development. Germany has committed to support Ghana’s development projects, focusing on climate and energy, good governance, and sustainable economic development.

Germany’s support for Ghana’s health sector focuses on capacity building, infrastructure development, as well as vaccine production.

The Minister of Health emphasized the need for infrastructure development and retooling of health facilities, which have not been updated since 2014 and Germany’s support in this area could significantly enhance Ghana’s healthcare delivery.

‘‘Government has an agenda to make Ghana a pharmaceutical hub and so we are meeting with all partners and stakeholders in the field and the GIZ is one of our partners who are very critical in supporting our regulatory agencies like FDA and the vaccine institute. We aim to strengthen bilateral relations and explore opportunities for collaboration in the health sector.”

The German government representatives emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation and debt restructuring between the two countries, looking forward to 50 more years of fruitful collaboration.

Discussions also centered on the importance of Private public partnership collaborations in driving innovation and improving healthcare services.
