General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr. David Tenkorang-Twum, has denied reports suggesting he attacked the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, during an interview with an Accra-based media station.
The denial by Dr David Tenkorang-Twum follows his criticism of the sector ministers’ handling of the recent assault of a nurse at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
Dr Tenkorang-Twum argued that Akandoh lacked an understanding of hospital dynamics because of his previous profession as farmer.
But speaking to 3FM Sunrise on Friday, August 22, 2025, he denied criticising the personality of the Health Minister.
“I wasn’t rude, insulting, nor attack the minister, and I cannot attack him. He is somebody I personally met, and I have assured him of my full support.” Dr Tenkorang-Twum explained.
The GRNMA General Secretary, however, emphasised the Association’s willingness to collaborate with the Ministry of Health for the betterment of healthcare delivery in the country.
“We need to support the Health Minister to succeed. Considering his age, he is well-endowed, and his passion is evident.”
The Association also states, “all of us would help the Minister in his endeavours, but not at the expense of Nurses and Midwives. That is unacceptable.”
