Ghana Women’s Premier League champions Police Ladies went 2-1 down to Nigerian giants Bayelsa Queens in the opening Group B game of the ongoing WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
A goal in each half sent the 2022 winners 2-0 up before the Ghanaians pulled one back in a goal-mouth scramble.
Mary Bekoe slotted the ball in after the Nigerians failed to clear their lines.
But it was too little too late as POLAS made their debut in the international tournament.
In the other group game, Benin’s Sam-Nelly FC pipped ASKO of Togo to scoop all three points.
POLAS will next play Sam-Nelly on Wednesday at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro.
