Black Stars midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has pleaded not guilty to all charges of rape levelled against him.
The Villarreal midfielder appeared at the Southwark Crown Courts on Wednesday, September 17, a few hours after his side’s 0-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League, to make the plea.
The Ghanaian footballer is facing five counts of rape and one charge of sexual assault involving three women.
The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022, when the 32-year-old regularly played for Arsenal in the Premier League.
He was charged four days after leaving the north London club, following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.
Partey was granted bail until his trial, which is due to start at the same court on 2 November next year.
The conditions of his bail do not prevent him from playing football, but he must notify police of any international travel 24 hours in advance and must not contact the complainants.
He spoke to confirm his name and date of birth in court before pleading not guilty to each of the charges made against him.
Partey played 12 minutes as a substitute in Tuesday night’s match in North London.
