Five distinguished Ghanaians are set to be issued diplomatic passports by the state as part of efforts to promote African unity and integration.

On Wednesday, September 17, government announced that YouTuber Wode Maya, media personality Anita Erskine, Dentaa Amoateng, Rocky Dawuni and artist Ibrahim Mahama will receive diplomatic passports to support their work in advancing African cohesion on the global stage.

They have all been named ambassadors for the upcoming Diaspora Summit scheduled for December 19 and 20 in Accra.

Here is how they all reacted to the news.

Akosua Dentaa Amoateng  said she’s humbled to have been honoured with a diplomatic passport.

In her post, she said the honour is a reflection of her past work to showcase Ghana, connect Africa and its diaspora with the world.

“I’m humbled to have been honoured with a Diplomatic Passport by the Government of Ghana, alongside some truly inspiring Ghanaians WodeMaya, Rocky Dawuni, Anita Erskine, and Ibrahim Mahama. This recognition means so much to me.

“It reflects the work we’ve been doing for over 20 years to showcase Ghana, connect Africa and its diaspora with the world, and create opportunities for collaboration and growth. The diaspora plays a vital role in nation-building, and this milestone reminds me how powerful we can be when we come together to invest, innovate, and tell our own stories. Thank you to everyone who continues to support this journey and the many partners and friends who believe in our mission. Let’s keep telling our story and building bridges that uplift Africa. for this recognition,” she stated.

Wode Maya described the honour as a dream come true.  He expressed gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Ministry for the honour.

“We’ve been on this incredible journey showcasing Ghana and the African continent to the world and never in my wildest dreams did I think a proud village boy like me would be holding a Diplomatic Passport. I’m truly humbled and deeply grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said.

Reacting to the news, Ibrahim Mahama expressed gratitude to the government, stating that he will continue to make Ghana proud.

He underscored the value of a diplomatic passport in pushing the agenda to connect Ghana and Africa to the diaspora.
