The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has denied a request for a stay of execution filed by Division One League side King Faisal FC against the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The request, filed on Monday, September 1, is in connection with a petition to have the GFA suspend a rollout of decisions taken at its Ordinary Congress on Tuesday, August 12.

According to King Faisal, the nation’s football-governing body had been served with an injunction application but went ahead with the Congress at Prampram.

In its ruling on Wednesday, October 1, the President of the CAS Appeals Arbitration Division, Mrs Corrine Schmidhauser, noted that costs of the ruling shall be determined in the final award.

It is unclear what next step King Faisal will take after Wednesday’s decision.

The club had had support from some key football administrators including GFA presidential aspirant George Afriyie in their bid to stop the GFA.

Among the resolutions adopted at the 31st Ordinary Congress, a GFA President will have an additional tenure from the status quo, making it three terms for future presidents.
