Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku says the decision to part ways with Otto Addo as Black Stars Head Coach was informed by a combination of observations, feedback, and a shared vision for the future of the team.
Speaking to 3Sports, Okraku explained that the call was not based on a single factor, but rather a broader assessment of the team’s progress and direction under the coach.
“I don’t know whether it’s about what did I see or what did I hear, or perhaps both. I’ve seen Otto work over time since we engaged him. I’ve heard millions of comments. I’ve seen him prepare the team for games. I’ve seen the last four or five games that we have played. I’ve seen the group, I’ve seen the executive committee discuss the games that we have played,” he said.
He further noted that the decision was also influenced by discussions at the executive level and a desire to align with the country’s long-term ambitions, particularly with the FIFA World Cup in mind.
“And I’ve also heard about our shared vision for the World Cup. And I thought that it was time for us to look at another direction for our common vision,” Okraku added.
The GFA is expected to name a new head coach in the coming days as Ghana looks to reshape its technical direction ahead of upcoming international competitions.
