The Member of Parliament for Juaben in Ashanti Region, Francis Owusu-Akyaw, has bemoaned the poor state of the road network in the Constituency.
He recounted that it is conspicuously affecting the promotion of Agric in the area.
With most of the people predominantly engaged in farming activities, particularly in the rural communities of the Constituency, it has always been a challenge for farmers to easily transport their farm produce to Juaben and other urban centres for marketing because of the deplorable nature of the road, Mr Owusu-Akyaw revealed.
In a statement on his Facebook page on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after inspecting some roads in the area, the Juaben MP, disclosed that even in some of the remotest villages and areas, farmers frequently ply the path routes by walking and carrying their produce on their head to the towns. This he said was as a result of no road network linking those areas.
Mr Owusu-Akyaw maintained that this to a large extent is a disincentive to farmers to continue hanging on in farming business and would ultimately inhibit the growth of Agric and Agric related activities.
“I had the opportunity to inspect the deplorable condition of the road linking Abetinem, Nkyeripoaso, Kokodie, Ofoase, Odoyefe and other adjoining communities to Kubeaso in the Juaben Constituency.
The current state of the road has made vehicular movement extremely difficult for residents, farmers, traders, school children, and other road users, particularly during the rainy season.
As part of the inspection, I also met with the traditional leaders and residents of the affected communities to listen to their concerns and discuss practical steps towards addressing the situation.
I assured the chiefs and the people that the contractor will move to site this week to commence reshaping of the road, an immediate intervention aimed at improving accessibility and making vehicular movement easier while further works are pursued.
The development of our communities remains a priority. I will continue to engage the relevant stakeholders and ensure that the concerns of our people receive the needed attention.
Together, we are working to improve our roads, strengthen connectivity, and enhance the livelihoods of our people,” he stated.
