The Bosomtwe District Assembly has expressed concern about the deplorable roads in the area.

Speaking on Ghanakoma Morning Show on Akoma 87.9 FM in Kumasi with Sir John, on September 5,2025, the District Chief Executive, Ing Abdullah Hamidu, pointed out that although the Lake was a major tourist attraction and a major source of revenue for Bosomtwe District Assembly, the poor road network had made it unattractive to tourists.

In addition, most drivers have refused to ply the roads compelling people to walk several kilometres before boarding vehicles to transport their foodstuffs to Kumasi and other marketing centres.

Some of the communities on the banks of Lake Bosomtwe include, Abaase, Abrodwum, Asuoho- Adwafo, Pipie, Nkowi, Obbo, Abono and others.

He expressed worry over roads network in his District that according to him, has stalled development and left residents in fear.

“Though Ashanti Region has road challenges, but the issue in my district is very bad and the road Ministry should pay attention to us,” he said.

He said many of the roads were given to contractors, hence does not understand why the roads are still in bad shape.

“It is very worrying when road contract has been awarded, but no one is on site. There are more than 70 communities under my District and when I assumed office as District Chief Executive, I visited several communities and all what the chiefs and the people appealed was reconstruction of their roads so that they can transport their farming products to boost up trade”, he said.

When asked about the abandoned Aputuogya-Kuntenase road, he said the construction firm- Kofi Job told him of lack of funds to continue since the government has not honoured certificates raised for previous work.

He revealed that several kilometres of road in the Bosomtwe District are in deplorable state and believed that the NDC government will not sleep on social amenities that will bring improvements into the lives of people living in the country.

The DCE assured the people that development projects in the district would be shared fairly and appealed to them to pay their taxes regularly to help generate funds to complement the Assembly’s share of the Common Fund.

Some of the residents who contributed to the show, appealed to the Assembly to improve the infrastructure and facilities for the development of education in the district since that was the best legacy that it could bequeath to the youth and the nation’s future leaders.
