The Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, has accounted for his first 8 months in office, highlighting significant achievements in various sectors.
The report was presented at a press soiree attended by journalists, Assembly members, party communicators, and government appointees.
“I have, over the past two decades, demonstrated my unwavering contributions towards the development of my constituency and beyond,” Dr Pelpuo stated.
Adding that, “the essence of today’s encounter is to provide an insight to my constituents and the rank and file of the General Public on some of the interventions undertaken between January and September, 2025, as a way of demonstrating my commitment to the tenets of strict accountability.”
The 21-page presentation was focused on 7 thematic areas, including human capital development, education, health, business support, electricity, water, music, sports, and entertainment.
Education
The MP reported that 150 tertiary students received financial support amounting to GHC335,621.13. Additionally, 11 students secured GETFUND scholarships, and a mock examination was conducted for Basic Schools preparing for the BECE.
The MP also procured desktop computers for Wa Senior High Technical School and a 3-unit classroom block for Wa Model School under GNPC funding.
Health
Dr Pelpuo said that medical care support worth approximately GHC58,000 was provided through the payment of medical bills. He also donated cement and cash to the Duori Community to support the construction of a maternity block.
Business Support
The MP reported that 21 petty traders received financial support amounting to GHC52,000.
Music, Sports, and Entertainment
Disclosing that an amount of GHC73,000 was used to promote music and sports, including jersey sponsorship for Wa Power Sporting Club and financial support for the Upper West representative of Ghana’s Most Beautiful.
Water Supply
Four new boreholes were constructed, and 13 broken boreholes were repaired at a total cost of GHC116,600.
General Community support
The MP’s office constructed a pavilion at Wa Nayiri, donated cement to several communities, and supported the Dokpong Mosque, among other initiatives. The total amount spent on these projects is GHC212,457.35.
Human capital development
On human capital development, the soft-spoken MP said he aided in the appointment of 4 people at MDPI, including the Director-General, the Board Chairman, and two consultants.
On Direct employment, he stated as follows: Nadmo 2 people, YEA one person, MASLOC one person, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission 1, Ghana Shippers Authority 1.
