Baba Jamal & Associates, the legal team for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta, has responded to the complaints by Akosua Serwah Fosuh, regarding the funeral and properties of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
In an October 1, 2025, letter signed by Fati Ali-Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates, the family’s legal representatives state that the Fosuh Family has directed them to clarify that Madam Fosuh has no authority to determine how the family would handle the late Daddy Lumba’s funeral.
The letter indicates that Akosua Serwah Fosuh, who was once married to the late musician, refused to relocate from Germany to Ghana to take care of him when he fell seriously ill about 15 years ago.
According to the letter, her refusal to relocate to Ghana amounts to desertion. Furthermore, she presented traditional drinks to signify the dissolution of the marriage, an act that, according to the lawyers, is recognised under Akan customary practice.
Also, the lawyers intimated that the family recognises Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, as Daddy Lumba’s wife, explaining that she lived with the late musician for over 15 years and had six children with him before his demise.
Regarding concerns about Lumba’s properties, the lawyers stated that all assets belonging to him form part of his estate and will be handled jointly by the family and children of Daddy Lumba to ensure fair distribution.
The lawyers have further advised in the letter that all parties should stay away from the properties until a legal and equitable process is completed.
Meanwhile, the lawyers have also disclosed that there are instructions from Daddy Lumba, prior to his demise, that will guide the family on his preferred funeral arrangements and the handling of his properties.
Through their lawyers, the Fosu Royal Family has called for calm and urged all parties, including Akosua Serwah Fosuh, to engage in peaceful discussions to ensure a dignified and befitting burial for the late music icon.
The lawyers’ clarification follows an injunction filed by the late Lumba’s former wife and children regarding his funeral arrangements.
