The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has filed fresh charges against former the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and nine others.

The charges, amended, brings to a total 54 counts from the previous 25.

Mustapha Hamid and the nine others are facing multiple charges including extortion, abuse of public office, and money laundering, totalling GHC291,574,087.19 and US$332,407.47.

According to the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the accused persons allegedly extorted hundreds of millions of cedis and foreign currency from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies under the guise of official duties.

In Court on Monday, October 20, however, the accused persons were informed about an adjournment due to the unavailability of the judge.

They are to reappear on November 13, 2025.

OnuaOnline checks indicate that the substantive judge presiding over the case, Justice Mary Ekue Yanzuh is among judges who were elevated to the Court of Appeal.

This has rendered the Criminal Court 3 of the High Court in the interim without a judge, hence the adjournment of the case.
