A New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer aspirant and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti region, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has declared that Ghana requires a visionary and determined leader who can use education as a catalyst to end poverty.
The former Minister of Education says his track record and passion for transforming Ghana’s education system position him as the right person to lead the nation towards inclusive and sustainable development.
Speaking during an engagement with party delegates and education stakeholders, Dr. Adutwum underscored the critical link between quality education and national prosperity.
“Ghana needs a determined leader to end poverty through education, and I fit that role,” he stated.
“Education is not just about classrooms and exams; it’s about creating opportunities for every child to rise above poverty and contribute meaningfully to society.”
He noted that under his leadership, the country would see a renewed focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and innovation-driven policies.
According to him, these areas hold the key to unlocking Ghana’s economic potential and creating jobs for the youth.
“We must build an education system that produces creators, not just job seekers. That is how we can truly transform our economy,” he said.
Dr Adutwum reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that education remains central to Ghana’s development agenda.
He urged delegates and citizens alike to support leaders who combine competence, compassion and conviction.
“This is not the time for politics as usual. It is time for purposeful leadership — leadership that believes education is the weapon with which we shall defeat poverty once and for all,” he added.
