Three brilliant but needy students have received a fully funded scholarship from the Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Scholarship Secretariat to pursue medicine in China.

The students, Mahama Jewu Kamal-Deen, Khalid Ebu-Yer Najuah, and Basiru Ekonatu Khadija are the first batch of students to benefit from an international study scholarship from the Bii-Kunuto Scholarship Fund.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mahama Jewu Kamal-Deen expressed gratitude to the Yagbonwura for the opportunity.

“We are truly grateful to His Majesty Jira Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I for this life-changing opportunity. On behalf of all the beneficiaries, I pledge that we will not disappoint Yagbonwura and the Kagbanye entirely.”

“We will work hard and return to serve our people with dignity and commitment,” he assured.

The Coordinator of the Bii-Kunuto Scholarship Fund, Habib Mufty Borerijnkpr, described the intervention as a breakthrough for Gonjaland.

He announced that two more students are expected to travel to the United Kingdom next year to pursue similar medical programmes under the same scholarship scheme.

As part of their commitment to giving back to the society, the students were made to sign an undertaking to return and serve in Gonjaland upon completion of their studies.

This aligns with the objectives of the Bii-Kunuto Scholarship Fund, which aims to build human capacity for the sustainable development of the Gonja Kingdom.
