The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, has called for stronger collaboration between communities and security agencies to safeguard the nation’s borders.
He made this appeal during a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, His Royal Majesty Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, as part of his official tour of the North East Region.
During the meeting, CGI Amadu acknowledged the threats posed by criminal elements and urged the King to encourage his subjects to support Immigration Officers and other law enforcement bodies.

“I appeal to you, our Royal Father, to encourage your subjects to support my officers and other security agencies in our collective effort to protect our land borders,” Mr. Amadu stated.
He also advised the public to channel any grievances regarding officer conduct through official reporting channels at the Service, rather than direct confrontations, assuring that his officers remain committed to professionalism and dedication in their duties.
The CGI also conveyed the greetings of the Minister for the Interior and the Management of the Ghana Immigration Service, emphasizing his respect for traditional leadership and seeking the King’s counsel and blessings for his tour.

In his response, His Royal Majesty Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga expressed his condolences to the GIS and the families of officers who were recently attacked, pledging his full support in apprehending the perpetrators.
The King assured the CGI of the continued collaboration of his paramount chiefs and subjects and wished Mr. Amadu a successful tenure. He further encouraged the deployment of more personnel to the region to strengthen border security and enhance community protection.
Engagements with Local Chiefs and Officer Morale
The CGI’s itinerary also included a visit to the Chief of Gbintri, Gbemtiri Naa Zumzung, following an inspection of the checkpoint where officers were previously attacked.

The engagements are part of a broader strategy to fortify community relations and security cooperation.

Mr. Amadu also visited the Nasia and Wunjuga Inland Posts, the Nalerigu Border Post, and the Regional Headquarters, where he interacted with personnel to understand their challenges and boost their morale.
