Former President Nana Akufo-Addo together with former First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo have commiserated with the Rawlings family over the death of the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

Th former President was accompanied by other top officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) including; Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Dominic Nitiwul, Ambrose Dery, Samuel Abu Jinapor, Isaac Adongo, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Albert Kan Dapaah, Francis Asenso-Boakye.

The NPP members visited the Ridge residence of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to console the family.

“This is a woman who served the nation well. She and the husband were my friends. That is why I am here to console the family. May her soul rest in peace,” the former President said.

The former President signed a book of condolence which has been opened at the residence of the late former First Lady.

The eldest child of the late former First Lady and MP for Korle Klottey, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings expressed appreciation to the delegation for the sympathy and support in their grieving moment.

She said the family will accordingly inform the former President about the funeral and burial arrangement once it has been scheduled.

“Your Excellency, former First Lady, the distinguished delegation, on behalf of my siblings and on behalf of my family, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to for the love that you have shown us and for the support. Indeed, this was very sudden.

“As soon as the family has come out with the date and everything, we shall communicate everything accordingly,” she noted.

On Friday, October 24 state officials, former government appointees, loved ones and relatives trooped to the residence to offer sympathy and grief with the family.

Mrs Rawlings died on Thursday morning, October 23, 2025, after a short illness. She was 76 years old.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning following the death of Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

The three-day national mourning commences from today, Friday, October 24 to Sunday 26 October 2025.

This was announced in a statement issued on Friday, October 24 and signed by the Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

The President has also directed that during this period, all national flags shall fly at half-mast at all public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government installations throughout the country and abroad.

This is in honour of her memory and in recognition of her distinguished service to our nation.

“Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings served Ghana with dedication and commitment, particularly in women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development.

“The Government extends its deepest condolences to the family, her children, and all who mourn this irreplaceable loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
