New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised of a future of innovation and opportunity for Ghanaians when elected as president.

Speaking to party supporters in Ketu South on November 15, the former vice president urged Ghanaians to repose their trust in his leadership as he seeks to become the next president of Ghana.

“Have confidence in me. You have seen what I can do as Vice President. If you make me president with the power, I will bring ‘Abrokyire’ to Ghana here,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia again appealed to Ghanaians to look beyond current economic difficulties but rather focus on the transformative ideas he brings to the table.

“It is not the money in your pocket that will allow you to transform Ghana. It is the ideas in your head,” Dr Bawumia declared.

The former vice president, meanwhile, outlined key digital and financial sector reforms he has championed while in office, arguing that his track record demonstrates his readiness to deliver greater transformation when given the full mandate.

“If you had MTN, you couldn’t move money to someone with Vodafone or Airtel. You couldn’t move money from your bank account to your MoMo account. But I said it was possible for us to do it in Ghana—and we have done it.” Dr Bawumia stated

The Vice President further revealed that the expansion of the mobile money sector has significantly boosted employment. “When we came, MoMo agents were 107,000. Today, they are 900,000. We have created 800,000 jobs,” he noted.
