The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim has announced government’s plan to establish sanitation court in chief’s palaces across the country.

This initiative, he said aims at bringing environmental sanity and promoting discipline in waste management.

The Minister made the pronouncement at this year’s Elluo festival held at Sefwi Bibiani.

The Banda MP reiterated that traditional leaders must be empowered and collaborate with District Assemblies to sanction sanitation offenders to help ensure a cleaner environment.

He explained that establishment of sanitation court in palaces will instill discipline in the people and promote sustainable waste management.

Ahmed underscored the crucial role traditional leaders play in promoting communal activities and environmental protection and advocated for their authority to be restored in sanitation matters.

The Minister urged the national and regional house of chiefs to cooperate with the ongoing constitutional review committee to ensure the amendment reinstated some power to traditional leaders on the environmental protection.

The paramount chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso traditional Area appreciated the government for it’s efforts towards the development of Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipality.
