The Ghana Police Service has rescued a young woman who was seen in a viral video with an injury to her left eye, and arrested the man suspected of assaulting her.
According to a police statement shared on Facebook on Friday, December 5, 2025, the operation was carried out by the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team after a widely circulated video showed the victim distressed and pleading for help from passersby.
The team launched an intelligence-led operation that traced the victim and the suspect to Okushibri near Apollonia. Officers moved swiftly to secure the victim and apprehend the suspect.
According to the police, preliminary investigations identified the suspect as Bright Kpodo, also known as Horror who is the victim’s partner and allegedly subjected her to physical abuse resulting in the injuries seen in the video.
Kpodo is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while arrangements are being made to provide necessary support for the victim.
The Police Service has urged the public to promptly report incidents of domestic violence to ensure timely investigation and prosecution.
