The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed a tragic bee-stinging incident at Anloga E.P. Basic School, which left two pupils dead and several others injured.

According to an official statement, the incident occurred on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, and affected members of the school community during school hours.

“The Ghana Education Service has received reports of a tragic bee-stinging incident at Anloga E.P. Basic School, which resulted in injuries to some members of the school community,” the statement said.

The report indicates that a total of 30 people were affected, including 22 learners, five teachers, and three school feeding cooks. The teachers were reportedly stung while attempting to rescue the pupils.

“Sadly, two of the learners lost their lives as a result of the incident,” the GES noted.

Management of the Service expressed deep sympathy to the families of the deceased pupils. “Management extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families during this difficult time,” the statement added.

With regard to those who sustained injuries, the GES assured them of its full support. “We wish all victims who sustained varying degrees of injury a speedy recovery and assure them of the Service’s full support throughout the recovery process,” the statement said.

The GES also commended those who responded promptly to the emergency. “Management expresses sincere gratitude to the teachers, officials of the Ghana National Fire Service, and community members whose swift intervention helped to salvage the situation,” it stated.

To prevent a recurrence, the Service said it is collaborating with key agencies. “The GES is working closely with the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and the District Chief Executive to completely eliminate the habitat of the bees and put measures in place to prevent any future occurrence,” the statement explained.
