The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the release of funds to all Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) nationwide to fully cover the cost of practical examinations for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to GES, the disbursement is intended to ensure that all practical components of the examination are adequately supported, including the provision of necessary materials and other essential resources required for a smooth assessment process.

The Service noted in a statement issued on April 21, that the move will help create a conducive environment for students to focus on their academic work, while also easing the financial burden on parents and guardians.

GES has directed regional, district, and school authorities to ensure that the funds are used strictly for their intended purpose, stressing the importance of accountability and efficiency in the management of the resources.

Management further indicated that monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to track the utilisation of the funds and maintain high standards in the administration of the examinations.

The Service reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to promote quality education and support student success across the country.
