Despite racking up numerous awards, the GJA Journalist of the Year, Godwin Asediba says it’s never about the accolades.

To him, it’s about stories that spark change in Ghana.

Speaking on TV3’s Afternoon show on the 22nd of December, Godwin mentioned a couple of impacts his stories have made on the subjects and fields at large.

He explained the multiple awards he’s won as a recognition of the hard work he puts in his work.

“I go the extra mile to tell the story, to get the attention of the right people who are supposed to do what they are supposed to do to bring a solution to a certain problem. So once that is done, that’s the atmosphere, but when the award comes in, that is more like a plus to me”, he explained.

Godwin Asediba further highlights the keynotes he took from Komla Dumor regarding the ethical journalistic standards of upholding transparency, fairness and accuracy while telling a story. He mentions using journalism as a tool to reach out to stakeholders to act, thus causing changes and remarkable impacts.

“I’m hoping that I will be able to learn more from the international front. The aim is to get more knowledge when it comes to that and then bring it back home and invest it into the younger ones.”
