Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended his New Year greetings to President John Dramani Mahama, expressing his sincere wish for him to succeed in his reset agenda.
In a Facebook message delivered on Thursday, January 1, 2026, Dr. Bawumia congratulated President Mahama on completing his first year in office, stating, “I congratulate John Dramani Mahama on his first year in office and I sincerely wish him well in the discharge of his mandate.”
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2028 flagbearer hopeful also reminded President Mahama of the mandate given to him by Ghanaians, urging him not to disappoint on the responsibilities bestowed on him.
He counselled the President to prioritise national peace, stability, and unity, making them the cornerstone of his administration.
“The Ghanaian people have bestowed a sacred trust on him and he cannot afford to fail them. I therefore urge him to continue to guard jealously, the peace, stability and unity of our nation.”
According to Bawumia, Ghana has consistently shown excellence in democratic governance, standing out as a beacon in a region plagued by turbulence and instability – a legacy he says must be protected. “Ghana has always stood out as a beacon in the region that has had too much turbulence and instability.”
He highlighted the economic hardship faced by citizens, despite the improved macroeconomic stability, and urged the President to implement the 24-Hour Economy policy to rescue the unemployed youth.
“I know that for many Ghanaians, the past year has not been easy. Parents have worried about providing for their families and unemployed young people have wondered when the 24-hour economy will provide them the promised jobs.
“Traders, workers, professionals and farmers have all felt the pressure in different ways, notwithstanding the improved macroeconomic stability,” he shared.
