The Ghana Immigration Services has said that it has released one of its officers, Ahmed Abdul Samad, who is alleged to have been involved in the transportation of large quantity of ammunition in the Upper East Region, to the Police for investigation. 

This is contained in a press release dated January 6.

“The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) confirms the arrest of one of its officers, Assistant Immigration Control Officer I (AICO I) Ahmed Abdul Samad, in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation by the Ghana Police Service.

Upon a formal request from the Ghana Police Service, the Upper East Regional Command of the GIS released the officer to the Police to assist with investigations into his alleged involvement in the transportation of a large quantity of ammunition, which was intercepted by the Police,” the press release signed by Maud Anima Quainoo, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration, stated.

It added that, “The Ghana Immigration Service wishes to assure the general public that it will not shield any officer whose actions undermine public safety or compromise the integrity and professionalism of the Service.”

The GIS assured that it is fully cooperating with the Ghana Police Service to support the ongoing investigations.

“The Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to national security, professionalism, and accountability. The GIS will take firm and appropriate action against any officer found culpable of misconduct, in accordance with the law and established disciplinary procedures,” the GIS stated.
