Police have intercepted a Toyota Voxy vehicle which was moving from Accra towards Assin Fosu in the Central region for carrying arms and ammunition without lawful authority.
Upon reaching a checkpoint on the highway around Apam in the Central region, the police on duty intercepted the vehicle with the package.
The police officers were at the Green Field plantation area, Graphic Online reports, where the suspect driver, Francis Ampomah, in charge of the Voxy vehicle was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on May 27, 2026.
The Voxy vehicle with registration number GT 9748-26, was taken to the Apam Police Station together with 14 yellow and brown boxes of shot gun ammunition.
The boxes were found in the vehicle without documentation hence the driver’s arrest.
The exhibits have since been retained at the Apam Police Station together with the suspect driver, who is in police custody assisting with further investigations.
