The Western Central Regional Police Command has apprehended two individuals for the unlawful possession and sale of narcotic drugs, following a two-month intelligence operation.
Acting on a tip-off received in December 2025, police intelligence units initiated surveillance on suspects allegedly peddling drugs along Tarkwa Estate Road. The operation culminated on February 5, 2026, at 1:00 pm, when a team of officers raided a shop on Estate Road.
A search of the premises, conducted in the presence of the suspects, yielded quantities of tramadol. The suspects then led officers to a room near the Tarkwa Market Circle, where a significant cache of suspected narcotics and related paraphernalia was discovered.

The recovered items include:
1. Twenty-two (22) compressed parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
2. Forty-four (44) sachets of dried leaves, locally known as “arms,” also suspected to be cannabis.
3. Twenty-four (24) boxes of 250mg Royal Tramadol.
4. Four-three (43) pieces of 250mg Tapentadol.
5. Fifteen (15) boxes of 250mg Timaking Tramadol.
6. Five hundred (500) boxes of Oris cigarettes.
7. Thirty-eight (38) boxes of laser smoking pads.
8. Various drug processing and consumption tools, including crushers, lighters, electronic shisha devices, and smoking filters.
9. Cash totaling GH¢2,001, believed to be the day’s proceeds from drug sales.
Preliminary investigations point to a supply chain extending beyond the region. Police have identified one Atanga, a brother to one of the suspects and a resident of Bolgatanga, as the alleged supplier. Authorities have launched a manhunt for his arrest to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The arrested suspects have been named as Maclean Adaboro, 44, and Kelvin Anaam, 28. Both are currently in police custody assisting with the investigation.
All seized exhibits have been secured and will be forwarded to the Police Crime Laboratory for forensic analysis.
In a statement, the Western Central Police Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to fighting drug-related crimes. Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, urged the public to continue supporting police efforts by providing timely and credible information.
The two suspects are expected to be processed for court in the coming days.
