The Kade Magistrate Court has remanded three suspects who allegedly assaulted a tutor of Kade Senior High Technical School into prison custody.
A fourth suspect, who is a juvenile, has also been remanded into police custody.
All four suspects are expected to reappear before the court on January 20 as ruled by His Worship George Davis Ofori.
According to court proceedings, the suspects admitted that their actions were wrong and pleaded guilty to the offence.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Awoonor-Yevu Godwin, has expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director General of the Ghana Education Service for their swift intervention in the matter.

He expressed confidence that justice would be served and cautioned students to be mindful of their actions, urging them to refrain from engaging in such untoward behaviour.
“We are happy about the arrest, this is all we have been asking for. Four have so far been arrested, three above 18 in prison custody to reappear on 20th January. One juvenile has also been remanded into police custody for the Juvenile court to handle its issues.
Others are on the run. We hope that on January 20 when the court sits the judge would not mince his words and justice would be served our teacher. We would continue to uphold discipline in our schools, I urge all students to be mindful of their behavior towards teachers. Our intended sit-down strike for this academic term has since been called off,” he said.
The arrests and subsequent court proceedings followed the circulation of a viral video on social media, which showed a group of individuals believed to be both current and former students at the school assaulting the tutor in the community.

The attack was allegedly triggered by the teacher’s refusal to allow the suspects to engage in examination malpractice during last year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
