A glory accident at Offinso Old Town in the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of three individuals, with two others injured and receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9FM in Kumasi with Sir John on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the Afigya Kwabre South NADMO Coordinator, Kwame Yaro, reported that the victims — the driver, a female trader and her child — died when their car caught fire following a collision with a trailer with registration number GR-1357-W and a mini truck carrying building materials.
He told Akoma FM, that the accident occurred at 8pm Monday, January 12, 2026.
The female victim, a building materials trader, was transporting goods from Kumasi to Offinso when the crash happened.
She, her son and the driver were severely burnt and died at the scene.
The bodies have been sent to the hospital for further investigation, and police have taken over the scene to probe the accident.
The two injured individuals, the trailer driver and his mate are receiving medical attention.
Yaro said the accident has caused heavy traffic on the Kumasi – Offinso highway and called for reinforcement to help manage the situation.
He said prompt emergency response teams were deployed to the scene to manage the aftermath and provide assistance to any injured parties.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, particularly focusing on compliance with safety.
