A New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has expressed his resolve not to allow some elements within the party to destroy it.

He says the trajectory of the current leadership is leading the party to destruction, something he has vowed never to allow fruition.

According to him, the NPP was formed by people with integrity, and would not sit aloof to allow anyone collapse it, expressing his readiness to rather get such people ousted from the party.

His comments come on the back of the leadership’s declaration to expel one of its founding members, Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, for making comments the party deem disparaging.

Speaking on TV3’s News Central on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said Prof. Frimpong Boateng is a man of integrity whose judgement he respects, and believes he wouldn’t make any statement without basis.

He noted that the leadership should have rather consulted him for his reasons for those comments, rather than taking the decision to sack him from the party.

According to him, the development is a clear indication that the NPP is falling into a ditch.

“Frimpong Boateng is not a kid. Frimpong Boateng academically is very solid, a man of integrity, a hardworking person. Frimpong Boateng knows how to choose his words and if he’s saying the party is fake, he knows why he said so, and if I were them, they would have had a quiet discussion with him before coming out the way they came.

“This shows clearly that the party is on its way to destruction and some of us, we shall make sure that these destroyers are rather removed from the party so that the party that was formed by men of integrity will survive,” he explained.

This follows the NPP leadership’s decision to invoke relevant provisions in its constitution to commence the necessary processes to expel Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng from the party.

The development is due to comments made by the former Minister of Environment, Science, Innovation and Technology, which the party describes as highly reprehensible and damaging to its values, unity, and integrity.

A Tuesday, January 13, 2026 statement issued by the party and signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said said Prof. Frimpong Boateng has described the NPP as a “fake party” in a Monday, January 12, 2026, interview.

He added that the former flagbearer aspirant of the NPP also revealed in his Channel One interview that he no longer consider himself a member of the party, adding that the leadership rigged the last flagbearer race in favour of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“In the same interview, Professor Frimpong-Boateng made additional disparaging remarks about the party and alleged, among other things, that the party’s 2023 Presidential Primary was rigged in favour of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate for the 2024 general election,” it noted.

The statement added that the party unequivocally rejects Professor Frimpong Boateng’s unfortunate characterisation of the NPP “and firmly denies his baseless and unsubstantiated allegations regarding the conduct of the 2023 Presidential Primary.”

It noted that the said primary had been widely acknowledged by all candidates who participated, as well as by well-meaning members of the Party, as having been conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and credible manner, faithfully reflecting the will of Party delegates.
