Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Ayawaso East Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, has officially filed her nomination to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary slot ahead of the by-election in the constituency.
Hajia Amina Adam will face five other contenders, including Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, in the race for the NDC ticket.
Special Aide, Ismail Abdul Razak together with other supporters of Hajia Amina presented forms to the party’s office on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Earlier, Ismail Abdul Razak had explained that Hajia’s decision to enter the race stemmed from strong appeals from constituents, party grassroots members and traditional leaders to continue the works of her late husband.
Supporters of Hajia Amina Adam were seen in high spirits as her nomination was officially filed, marking the start of what promises to be a keenly contested primary.

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced guidelines for the conduct of its Ayawaso East parliamentary primary in the Greater Accra Region, as part of preparations towards the March 3 by-election.
