The Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association has expressed frustrations over not being paid for their produce bought by government since November 2025.

The Association claimed members have not been paid for their produce since last November.

Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9fm in Kumasi with Sir John, on Tuesday, February 3,2026, the National President of the Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association, Anane Boateng, said months of delayed payments have plunged them into severe financial hardship, affecting their ability to cater for basic needs like school fees, feeding, healthcare and others.

He claimed that despite several requests to the appropriate authorities, the problem has continued for months.

He contended that families whose only source of income is cocoa cultivation have experienced hardship as a result of the payment delay.

Cocoa is one of the country’s major exports and important components of our economy.

Mr Boateng, claimed, there has not been much communication from the authorities, so they don’t know when the payments will be made.

“We have worked hard to produce Cocoa of high quality, but we have not been paid. For us, and our families, this is really challenging position,” he said.

He called on the government to take immediate action on the current problem.

“It is really affecting farmers, some are sick and want to seek medication, but they don’t have the money to go to the hospital,” he lamented.

He said that, if COCOBOD cannot effectively support the livelihood of Cocoa farmers, it should be restructured or scrapped.
