The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly to a commercial and domestic fire outbreak at Darkuman Cable and Wireless near the Waterworks area on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, following a distress call received at 5:19 pm.
The Industrial Area Fire Station responded swiftly arriving at the scene at at 5:21 pm to meet an intense fire that had spread among wooden and metal containers. The contents of the wooden and metal containers were used for both domestic and commercial purposes.
Reinforcements from the Dansoman, Anyaa, and Abelemkpe Fire Stations immediately arrived, bringing the situation under control by 7:20 pm. The fire was fully extinguished at 9:04 pm, preventing its spread to several adjoining structures, which were successfully salvaged.
Although an unspecified number of wooden and metal containers were destroyed, no casualties were recorded. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
