Accra Hearts of Oak Football Club’s appointment of Julius Ben Emunah as Managing Director has been met with optimism by former board and management member Frank Nelson Nwokolo.
In an interview on Onua Sports Centre on Onua FM, Frank Nelson, who is also Vice Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Competition, praised Emunah’s capabilities and experience in football administration.
“We used Julius to do a lot of coordination for us at that particular time. So he’s been involved with football,” he said.
Having worked closely with Emunah in the same committee for the past three years, Frank Nelson is confident in he can lead the club.
“I’ve seen his strengths, I’ve seen his weaknesses, and I can gauge his capacity. If the Accra Hearts of Oak board finds it wise to pick Julius for the job, I think it’s the right thing to do.”
Frank Nelson emphasized the importance of support from the club and its stakeholders for Emunah’s success.
“All he needs is for us to give him the support. He might not be a club man people know, but sometimes it happens that way. I believe he will be able to do it.”
The former board member also stressed the need for a good relationship between Emunah and the club’s supporters.
“What is important is our support base. If he’s able to get in line with the supporters and they understand him, and he understands the supporters, the club will move forward and forward.”
He concluded by urging the board and the supporters to give Emunah time to prove himself.
“I want to see CEOs and coaches in Accra Hearts of Oak stay four years, five years, to be able to say, ‘Yes,’ with a contract of, say, even thirty-six months, this is what you’re able to do. I think Julius has what it takes. He’s a young man who we need to give the support. He will be able to do the job.”
