The Black Princesses were held to a 2-2 draw by South Africa in the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
It was the third round of qualifying for Poland 2026 with the Black Princesses making it to this stage without conceding home-and-away against Tunisia.
However, after Agnes Yeboah scored in the 33rd minute to put her nation ahead at the break, the South Africans came into the second half strongly to equalise just after three minutes.
Linda Owusu Ansah restored the lead a few minutes later but the joy at the Accra Sports Stadium was short-lived as Khwezi Khoza found the equaliser for South Africa yet again.
It ended 2-2.
Coach Charles Sampson’s side will have a tall order as they travel to Johannesburg for the second leg on Saturday, February 14.
The winner will face either Uganda or Zambia in the final qualifying round.
