President John Dramani Mahama has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Ghana and across the world as the holy month of Ramadan begins.

In a message issued on 19 February 2026, the President, together with the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, conveyed heartfelt wishes to Muslim families, describing Ramadan as a sacred period of reflection, renewal and communal harmony.

“Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh!” the President began, marking the spiritual significance of the occasion.

He described Ramadan as “a special time; a month of reflection, renewal, and coming together as one community,” and prayed for strength and divine blessings for all those observing the fast.

President Mahama expressed hope that the faithful would experience purification of the heart and strengthening of their imān throughout the 30-day fast.

“May Allah, the Most Merciful, grant you good health, peace of mind, and abundant mercies throughout these thirty days,” he stated.

He further prayed that the prayers and good deeds of Muslims would be accepted, and that the holy month would bring them closer to their Creator and to one another.

The President also emphasised the deeper meaning of Ramadan, noting that the essence of the fast goes beyond abstaining from food and drink.

“As you break your fast each evening with family and friends, remember that the true beauty of Ramadan lies not just in abstaining from food, but in the discipline, compassion, and generosity we show to all, especially to those less fortunate,” he said.

He urged Ghanaians to use the sacred period to strengthen bonds of unity, love and peace within communities and across the country.

Concluding his message, the President wished Muslims a spiritually fulfilling month.

“Ramadan Mubarak! May Allah accept your worship,” he said.
